Let Nature Thrive ends 30 January 2023
Deadline: 30 January 2023. The annual photography competition is part of the Snowdrop Festival held each February in Somerset, UK. The theme changes each year. For 2023 it is ‘Let Nature Thrive’. The competition is judged by a professional photographer of national standing. For 2023 the judge is award-winning garden photographer, Jason Ingram.
Jason is an award winning garden photographer who travels widely photographing gardens, plants and people for magazines, books and advertising.
For the last three years (2019-2021) Jason has won the prestigious Gordon Rae Photographer of the Year Award from the Garden Media Guild. In the latest 2021 Award the judges said he ‘demonstrated a high degree of skill across all of his images’ and commented on his ‘ability to shoot both beautiful close-up plant portraits and wide garden shots with sympathetic lighting and precise compositions. This is a photographer who clearly understands and loves gardens.’
Jason also works with international garden designers on private commissions. In 2019 he provided over 300 exceptional photographs of the Piet Oudolf designed gardens at the Hauser and Wirth Art Gallery near Bruton in Somerset for a new book, ‘Planting the Oudolf Gardens at Hauser and Wirth Somerset’. His atmospheric photographs of the garden in the height of summer and in the depths of winter bring the garden to life.
