THE EXPERT JURY: GUIDO KLUMPE

Guido Klumpe is a German photographer known for abstract, minimalist, and street photography. He has a unique perspective due to a congenital visual impairment. Guido sees urban landscapes through shapes, colors, light, and reflections, using perspective and chance to capture moments in street photography. His work reveals the mystery and beauty of urban spaces, often with a painterly quality.

Guido’s work has won international awards, been widely published, and featured in solo and group exhibitions across Europe.

Three things Guido will look for when judging the photos:
1. the most important thing is a clearly recognizable image statement that surprises me in the best case. Showing something ordinary in an unusual way or combining it with other elements of the image – that’s what makes a picture stand out from the crowd.
2. a successful composition that fits the subject.
3. the photo should look authentic and natural – it should be really photographed. I personally find image montages with Photoshop or AI-generated images rather boring.
