AstroCamera – until 30 April 2019
Deadline: 30 April 2019. AstroCamera is the international competition for astrophotographers. It is organised by the Hevelianum in Gdańsk that deals with the promotion of science, astronomy in particular. On 28 January 2011, on the 400th anniversary of its patron’s birth, the Hewelianum Centre announced the first edition of AstroCamera 2011 Competition addressed to all astronomy and astrophotography enthusiasts who share scientific passions of Johannes Hevelius, a 17th century astronomer, a constructor of observation tools, and a renowned observer of the sky at night. His life and achievements have been an inspiration for the Hevelianum to make the AstroCamera Competition a regular event in calendar. On 28 January 2019 the Hevelianum announced the seventh, international, edition of the Competition.
CATEGORIES
The Competition is organized in the following categories:
I. deep sky objects (photographs: of star clusters, galaxies, nebulae, etc.),
II. Solar System objects (photographs: of planets, the Moon, comets, meteors, eclipses, object transits, etc.),
III. Astrolandscape (photographs: showing landscape elements with astronomic objects, e.g. astronomic object rising and setting, movement of the celestial sphere).
Prizes:
The Jury will grant the following cash prizes:
1) Category I: Deep Sky Objects:
a) Grand Prix – 1st Place – PLN 1.500,00,
b) Second Place – PLN 1.000,00,
c) Third Place – PLN 500,00.
2) Category II: Solar System Objects:
1) Grand Prix – 1st Place – PLN 900,00,
2) Second Place – PLN 400,00,
3) Third Place – PLN 300,00.
3) Category III: Astrolandscape:
1) Grand Prix – 1st Place – PLN 1.000,00,
2) Second Place – PLN 500,00,
3) Third Place – PLN 300,00.
Eligibility:
It is an open competition, i.e. it is addressed to all enthusiasts of astronomy and astrophotography.
