Close-up Photographer of the Year ends 14 July 2024

Deadline: 14 July 2024. Close-up Photographer of the Year is an annual competition revealing the hidden wonders of the world through close-up, macro and micro photography.

There are 11 categories:
Animals (supported by Affinity Photo)
Insects (supported by Nikon)
Invertebrate Portrait (supported by Zerene Stacker)
Butterflies & Dragonflies
Arachnids
Underwater
Plants
Fungi & Slime Moulds
Intimate Landscape (supported by FRAMES)
Studio Art (supported by Retouch4me)
Young CUPOTY (supported by SIGMA UK) for entrants aged 17 or under.

This year the total prize fund has been boosted to almost £9,000, with the overall winner taking home the £2,500 top prize.

The Young Close-up Photographer of the Year will receive a SIGMA 105mm F2.8 DG DN MACRO Art lens, a universal license for all three Affinity apps and a trophy.

It’s not all about winning though. The celebrated shortlist galleries bring together hundreds of photographers to gauge the current state-of-play in close-up photography.

The Top 100 images selected by the expert jury will appear in the winners’ gallery as a permanent exhibition on the CUPOTY website. These images will be seen by millions of people around the world through TV, newspapers, magazines, websites and social media.

The competition is open to anyone of any age from any country using any camera, phone, scanner, light sensitive paper or microscope to take photographs.
